Quake 2 and Unreal - seperated at birth? Personally I don't think so. I think they're both ripping off the Alien series which is owned by 20th Century Fox (they own chemical weapon plants in Syria you know) so why not? (The difference is that in Aliens/Alien cubed even the female lead is bald, not just the token males)
Female player model: everybody should do it. In the days of great feminist role models like the "crackwhores" and the "spice girls" why not?
If you missed the Q2 v. Unreal flame war. Go to Slipgate Central and check out ALL of the Quake news sites.
Last chance to send in weapon ideas because I'll probably finish most of them this week. Then all that remains is monster skins and code and level design.
To simplify things, any model submitted to the FMP should come in a .zip file with a .txt file written by the modeller (similar to the text files included with other FMP models) and all filenames should be 8 letters with a 3 letter extension (all lower case)
Added running and walking scenes for the female humanoid model.
Added tigermech model.
The new player model is now fully implemented. I also improved the chasecam so we can now see the player from any side. Click here for a demonstration.
The male humanoid model now includes a version
that Quake player skins will fit on.
I improved the female model and also included
a version that Quake player skins should fit.
I added a toilet model by w00pNgibs and a scanning scene to the security camera.

2 new models - Gear and Security Camera - by Martin
Jansén
I made a Free Models NOW button if you need one.
We moved to Quakefactor where we have more space. I tried to keep it subtle by changing the old index and news sites to link to the new site.
STAYIN' ALIVE: I figured out how to do .wav music in Quake. We can even layer different .wav files and have 1 pattern that is audible throughout a level, and other music can mix in with it in certain areas giving a very cinematic feel to otherwise repetitive music.
This does not mean we wouldn't want CD music in CyberDawn, but it does add the possibility of interactive, cinematic, event-driven, ambient, real-time, precached, dynamic, buzzword-intensive music :)
I've used 8 bit .wav samples as long as 30 seconds without trouble and longer, higher quality samples should also work, although just a few seconds is plenty for many types of music.
The new player model and gun are merged but their animation needs to be synchronized. then we will add the gun flash / plasma torch.
I'm splitting the developer's kit (QuArK version) into modules so you don't accidentally have to compile the test maps every time you hit "GO!"
If you don't like people who make a living off of other people's backs, here's how anyone can support themself:
MODELS IN THE FREE MODELS PROJECT CAN BE USED WITHOUT PERMISSION, EVEN FOR COMMERCIAL PROJECTS. I have made a special category for links to non-commercial models for the benefit of the designers of free TCs.
Does your Quake project need Modellers? Go to BUBBAH'S MONSTER PAGE to browse the available modellers and announce your need. I have decided NOT to list any more projects' need for modellers.
A MESSAGE FROM HEAVEN: The Clan 7 Deadly Sins is making a TC called Ring War that will be a straight-up fantasy game based in the fantasy setting of J.R.R. Tolkien.
Just to be a hipocrite I will mention this request (of course it's a special case since money is involved:) Someone offered to pay a commision for a Spawn (comic book character) model made to their specifications. Here is their e-mail address
Frequent RPG playtesting has led to a huge change - it takes 2 hit points to increase an attack's damage by 1 instead of 1 for 1.
The FMP was mentioned on Blue's and I was added to Bubbahs' monster page on the same weekend. I got a lot of e-mail and barely managed to empty my mailbox.
